Clif Brooks is the founder of Limitless Unlock Your Potential, a company that helps busy professionals lose weight, gain strength, and create a culture of generational legacy health. His journey to founding this company, however, began with his own personal struggles with alcoholism.
Struggle with Alcoholism
Brooks started bartending when he was 21 years old, and for the next 15 years, he struggled to quit drinking. He was serving drinks nightly and drinking himself into oblivion. He was living to drink, and this lifestyle led to his being arrested four times in less than 10 years for driving under the influence. It took him five more miserable years after that fourth conviction to finally quit drinking, and it was not a pleasant experience.
His father’s passing from a stroke destroyed his entire world, and he spiraled into the bottom of so many bottles. For an entire year, he was a mess, running away from his pain. He realized he had to make a change before he drank himself to death. He tried to control his drinking, which worked for five years until he had one final blackout in Louisville, Kentucky, on St. Patrick’s Day in 2014. He was on a work trip and took shots with a friend until he completely blacked out. He could have been robbed, beaten up, hit by a car, or worse. Somehow he found his way back to his hotel room and spent the next day throwing up in the bathroom. It was that day, while he was praying to the porcelain god, that he made the decision that he would never drink another drop of alcohol.
Leading Through Example
Now nine years clean and sober, Brooks has dedicated his life to helping fellow entrepreneurs and busy professionals. He believes that every person must go through the ups and downs in their lives, and that even though they may not understand why they’re going through them, they must believe that when they look back, they will see that things happened the only way they could have for the pieces to fit together in a way that would benefit them. He developed the Limitless philosophies for busy men and women, and his aim is to help people become the best version of themselves.
Brooks believes that being healthy is essential to creating a legacy for your children, and that if a parent has an unhealthy lifestyle, they will teach their children to have an unhealthy lifestyle through their actions because little eyes are always watching. Brooks knows this firsthand as his father, who had high blood pressure, died from a stroke at the age of 56. His father always talked about starting to eat better tomorrow and exercise on Monday, but tomorrow never happened and Monday never came. His high blood pressure killed him. His dad had a stroke in his brainstem, which controls all of our involuntary bodily functions, and couldn’t handle the strain. Brooks urges parents to get healthy for the sake of their children and to start small.
Brooks understands that many people don’t want to go on another diet because they believe they’ll have to give up all their favorite foods. He knows that slimming down, getting fit, and getting healthy is much easier than people think, and that small, gradual changes that you can stick with for the long haul are more effective than any crash diet you’ve done in the past.
Brooks also knows that people struggle to get motivated to start working out and eating healthy. He believes that the key to getting finally reaching your health and fitness goals comes down to needing more than motivation, a meal plan, and a workout.. It requires you to break your bad habits, destroy old patterns, release addictions, get rid of limiting beliefs that are ultimately holding you back from having the body, and confidence you have always wanted. Change your thinking, change your life and become the role model that your family looks up to. Deep down, people know he’s right, and it’s time to make a change.
In conclusion, Brooks is a shining example of someone who has turned his life around, from someone who was spiraling out of control with alcoholism to someone who is dedicated to helping others become the best version and start living a healthier lifestyle. The time to take action is now. Don’t wait until it’s too late, like his dad did. You owe it to yourself and your family to prioritize your health and make positive changes in your life. Whether it’s losing weight, improving your diet, or getting more exercise, every small step can make a big difference. So don’t be afraid to ask for help and seek out resources and support to help you on your journey. Remember, your health is your greatest wealth, and investing in it is one of the best decisions you can make for yourself and your family.
